We are Dining Out For Life April 26!
by admin on April 18, 2012
We are proud to participate again this year in Dining Out For Life on Thursday, April 26, 2012! When you dine at any of our three stores on this day, we’ll donate a portion of your purchase to Lifelong AIDS Alliance and the fight against illness and hunger in our community. Dining Out For Life is the perfect excuse to grab dinner with friends and family, plan on lunch with colleagues, or simply grab some fries and a shake to get your afternoon sugar buzz!
Dining Out For Life® is an annual fundraising event involving the generous participation of volunteers, corporate sponsors and restaurants. In exchange for their financial support, restaurants are listed in a city wide marketing campaign in an effort to increase customer traffic.
In 1991, Dining Out For Life® was created by an ActionAIDS volunteer in Philadelphia. Dining Out is now produced in 60 cities throughout the United States and Canada.
More than 3,000 restaurants donate a portion of their proceeds from this one special day of dining to the licensed AIDS service agency in their city. More than $3 million dollars a year is raised to support the missions of 60 outstanding HIV/AIDS service organizations throughout North America. With the exception of the annual licensing fee of $1,150, all money raised in these cities stays locally.
Lifelong AIDS Alliance is a non-profit organization that prevents the spread of HIV, provides support services for those whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as delivers medically nutritious meals to individuals living with and without HIV/AIDs through the Chicken Soup Brigade Program. Based in Seattle, Lifelong advocates to expand resources for programs that benefit those at risk of and living with HIV/AIDS.
April Burger of the Month

The Chicky Chicky Parm Parm Burger
This burger comes to us from our friend John Eddy, who moved here from New England and was shocked to see the Chicky Parm Sub was not on the menu at Pizza and Sub Shops here in Seattle. So John, with some help from Patricia (Mrs. Eddy and the brains and beauty behind cooklocal.com) came up with their own version of the Chicky Parm Sub for April’s Burger of the Month.
For the Chicky Chicky Parm Parm, we start with a crispy chicken breast, sprinkle on freshly grated mozzarella cheese, pile on sautéed green peppers and onions, and then pour on a generous helping of Patricia’s Meaty Marinara Sauce, served on a Grand Central Bakery Ciabatta Bun.
Mamma mia, this is a great burger!

Deep Fried Mozzarella
How can you not love deep fried mozzarella? We make ours by taking fresh mozzarella and lightly breading it, then dropping in into the deep fryer until golden brown. We serve it with our own housemade Meaty Marinara Sauce, which coincidentally is served on our delicious burger of the month The Chicky Chicky Parm Parm.
April Shake of the Month

Nutella Shake
For those of you not familiar with Nutella, it is the “Italian Peanut Butter” which goes perfectly with our Italian theme this month. Italians put Nutella on everything, just like we do with peanut butter. It is the perfect blend of hazelnuts and chocolate, and while it’s not as good as peanut butter, it’s pretty darn close. Delizioso!
April Beer of the Month

American Brewing’s Breakaway IPA
This month’s beer comes to us from a microbrewery up in Edmonds, American Brewing. This American Style India pale ale is a true Northwest IPA; a bold hop aroma with a floral and citrus note. It’s color is a dark honey or amber tone. The flavors are characterized by a medium intense hop bitterness that is well balanced with a citrus flavor and aroma along with a mild malty sweetness. The Stats: ABV: 7.2%, IBU: 90
